Blood Compact Site, Barangay Bool,
Tagbilaran City - A marker which identifies the spot where Datu Sikatuna, a
native chieftain, forged a Blood Compact with Don Miguel Lopez de Legaspi representing the
King of Spain, for the purpose of fostering friendly relations between the two countries.
The Blood Compact on March 16, 1565 is considered as the "First Treaty of
Friendship" between the brown and the white races.
Former Ambassador Carlos P. Romulo commented that the first seed o the United
Nations was planted in Bohol with reference to that historic Blood Compact. |
